Court marriage procedure is common across India. It is made possible — and subsequently governed by — the Special Marriage Act, 1954, which provides for marriage by civil ceremony between parties belonging to different religions. Even parties of the same religion may, however, choose a court marriage over rituals and ceremonies.
1. Age of the groom must be 21 years or above and bride must be 18 years or above.
2. Both bride and groom must be living together after solemnizing wedding.
3. Submission of physical, mental health medical certificate is mandatory. Both the applicants must be in fine condition.
4. Applicant’s relationship must not fall into the category of prohibited list of relations according to marriage law.
