The Hindu Marriage Act by an Act of the Parliament of India enacted in 1955. Three other important acts were also enacted as part of the Hindu Code Bills during this time: the Hindu Succession Act (1956), the Hindu Minority and Guardianship Act (1956), the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act (1956).
1. Age of the groom must be 21 years or above and bride must be 18 years or above.
2. Both bride and groom must be living together after solemnizing wedding.
3. Submission of physical, mental health medical certificate is mandatory. Both the applicants must be in fine condition.
4. Applicant’s relationship must not fall into the category of prohibited list of relations according to marriage law.
